It is always so hard to know how to handle odd things like that. I was a nanny for years and have taken care of hundreds of kids over the years. I've never seen a random hair-pulling incident, so I don't know what I would have done.

I'm not a parent either, but I would have definitely said something to the parents of the other child. Not to make a scene or anything, but I believe this would just ensure that the parents would talk to this child. If you have talked to the parents, the parents would have definitely spoken to their child about their actions. This would allow the child to know that their actions were wrong and they wouldn’t do anything about it. But say the parents of the other child were laid back and did nothing to their child even though they had seen this. Without, you guys saying anything the parents wouldn’t say anything to their child, then the child will be more likely to do this again. On the other hand, I definitely think that stereotyping the child with a mental disorder is totally wrong. Just because someone does something out of the ordinary doesn’t ensure that they have a mental disorder. I’m pretty sure you have done something out of the ordinary that made people think twice about your action.

i'm not a parent, but if i was charged with watching Soluna, i might have gone preschool teacher on the kid, and done a "playground mediation" between the two of them... mebbe the other kid was jealous Soluna got to ride in the wagon? heh...

Freecycle is the best. I've gotten a nice futon, and some pieces of drywall (which are now in the walls of my kitchen and dining room), and gotten rid of a bunch of stuff that was no longer useful to us (but obviously was to someone else). And 'free' is a hard price to beat :-)

I haven't looked at your blog for a little while so I know this is not timely...but I just wanted to say keep up the good work! You are a wonderful mom and it is, in my opinion, much harder to work from home while also doing all your mommy duties than to go to work all day or be a full time mom without the outside work. I've been in all three situations and definitely the work-from-home-mommy job is the toughest. Hopefully by now your schedule is a little lighter - yikes! But we mamas have to do what we mamas have to do, right?
